Traditional Singers Male
Jerry O'Reilly
Down from your pulpits, Down form your thrones!
D
I've known Jerry for many years. When I first moved to Dublin as a ninteen year old it was in the house of Jerry and his wife Anne that I stayed. He was really doing my father (whom he had known through the Irish music in Liverpool) a favour. And it was in Liverpool I last saw him we did the Liverpool Irish Festival together. In one venue there was actually a pulpit in the bar. So Jerry got a chance to sing "Down from your pulpit, Down from your thrones" in an actual pulpit. It was the highlight of the weekend.
Jerry is in great demand to do talks and demonstrate Dublin songs at festivals around Europe . He is a reguar at the Tocan Festival in France, A UilleannPiper and an athlete. Is there no end to this mans talent!

Antaine O Farachain & Jim MacFarland
Where Linnets Sing
D
You have probably realised that most of the CD's that are highlighted are from music friends and people I have played or sang with over the years and still am. Antaine is one of my best of them.
I've seen him go from a singer in the Goilin singers Club to a TG4 personality and highly respected
sean-nos singer and teacher. He is everywhere ,on the TV, the radio and still has time to Fleadh.
Jim is one of those singers you have to be with in a singing session. He always comes out with that classic song you were waiting to hear. Listening to him on this CD brings back some great memories. They share this CD with Mairead Ni Oistin & Grace Toland.

Dick Hogan
The Wonders Of The World
Dick Hogan from Co Tipperary but now living in Dublin is a well known singer throughout the country in traditional and music singing circles. His singing style combined with his choice of songs fascinate young and old alike. I first met Dick in O'Donoghues pub Dublin the pud the Dubliers group started from in 1976. We played there nearly every night for years along with Johney Keenan (Piper Paddy's brother) Frank Cullan, fiddle great Martin Burns, and many more. Dick travals to festivals and Fleadh's more than any one I know. We recently did the Liverpool Irish festival together where he went down a storm.
